We are FIRM in our mission to reduce the homeless pet population in Central Ohio through community outreach, promoting spay/neuter and education.

We are 100% donation based and we aim to be good trustees of your hard earned money; we do that by holding true to this vision/mission.

Honestly though...

SOMETIMES that’s hard.

SOMETIMES that means we have to have difficult conversations.

SOMETIMES, what we have to say, isn’t what pet parents want to hear.

SOMETIMES we are reminded that we can’t or won’t help everyone.

While that’s ALWAYS sad for us, please know that there are just some things we will not compromise on.

Today 46 animals received wellness checks that wouldn’t have gotten them otherwise.

For that we are thankful.

We are also thankful for a team dedicated board members and a group of kick-@ss volunteers who help us fulfill our mission.

We think you know how much we love our volunteers, but it would seem that they love us too! We hope you’ll take a moment to read an essay written by one of our young volunteers as part of a scholarship application. We’d be lying if we said it didn’t bring a grateful tear to our eyes.

April 11th Wellness Clinic - National Pet Day

Did you know that today is 𝙽𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝙿𝚎𝚝 𝙳𝚊𝚢?

National Pet Day was started in 2006 to spotlight the joy pets bring to their owners' life, as well as bring attention to the growing number of pets waiting in shelters. The ultimate goal was to encourage people who are considering buying pure-breeds to consider adopting a shelter/rescue pet instead. This is when the popular term "Don't Shop! Adopt!" was created.

I bet you’re not surprised that we can TOTALLY get behind this day!

To celebrate, we did what we always do and we helped pets in need by providing healthcare, food, (belly rubs, butt scratches, smooches, and snuggles) at our April clinic!

Our compassionate, generous, and EFFICIENT Doctors, RVT’s, and other volunteers provided care to 𝟻𝟼 𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚍𝚘𝚐𝚜 today, then went home to love on their own pets...this is exactly why we love them so much!

We’re honored to be able to help our community pets because EVERYDAY is National Pet Day at SOP!

March 14th - 'Friends Don't Let Friends Litter'! Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic

Sunday, March 14, 2021 was a long but rewarding day. WE REACHED OUR GOAL…104 animals spayed/neutered and 40 animals received wellness checks!! Woo Hoo!!

It was 12 amazing (and exhausting) hours of non-stop runnning, carrying bags of pet food, and playing lullabies for stressed out pups. Comforting worried pet parents, filling out paperwork, moving crates, and cleaning up poo. Nails were trimmed, vaccines administered, and blocky-headed-wiggle-butts were cuddled. We laughed, and took turns being tired. We were even on the news!

All of it, ALL of it was possible only because of the big hearts and dedication of the people who show up and work their butts off for free. There are no words for the love and mad respect for each and every one of our wonderful and dedicated volunteers. They lead with servant hearts and they are simply the best kinda humans. We wouldn’t do what we do, be who we are, or help who we help without them.

Of course we would be remiss if we didn’t also thank a community of people, organizations, and businesses that came together to help us raise the funds necessary to hold this clinic…our hearts are full.

  • Our followers, supporters, friends and family stepped up in a HUGE way and raised $2,500 in less than 2 weeks! Wow…just WOW!! Thank you!

  • The Tortorella Family Foundation has supported us many times over the last 3 years and this event was no exception. We cannot give enough love to John & Christine for all they do for the animals across the country! Thank you! for your $2,500 sponsorship!

  • Logan AC & Heat Services heard about us on the Hockey and Hounds radio show with Anthony Rothman (97.1 The Fan) and jumped right in with a sponsorship of $2,500. They are truly good and kind people stepping up for those in need in our community. Thank you!

  • The animal advocacy community is small but mighty, and Peace for Paws embodies all that you hope to see in such a small circle. They donated $2,100 to help us completely cover our March Clinic. THIS is what it’s truly about!

February 7, 2021 WELLNESS CLINIC

Today was cooold but you didn’t hear one complaint from any of our volunteers. They know what we do is bigger than a few hours of being uncomfortable.

We got the pleasure of seeing ‘Nugget’ from last month. His real name is Kane and we were happy to see him for his second round of puppy vaccines.

We also got to meet Hope. Hope was abandoned (found tied to a pole in CBus),but rescued by one of our faithful volunteers. SOP got her a check up and vaccines, and found her a foster, and now the good folks over at The North American Rescue Collective will take it from here! She’ll need time to decompress and they will need time to figure out more about her, but keep an eye on their page on the coming months if you’re looking to add to your family!

32 other adorable and deserving animals were vetted today, and while we may have been cold on the outside, our hearts are unbelievably warm.

JANUARY 17, 2021 WELLNESS CLINIC

January 2021 marked our 4 year Anniversary! To celebrate, we did our favorite thing…performed FREE wellness checks on 42 cats and dogs at our Jan 17th clinic! We all gushed over the cutest little puppy named Kane. He was found by one of our clients in a box, with 6 of his siblings. We gave him lots of love, cuddles, and of course, vaccines and a proper check-up. He already loves his human siblings and bother, Red. We can’t wait to see him grow up as a full-fledged member of the SOP family.

As always, we had a great Clinic Saturday being able to do Wellness checks on much-needed animals in Franklin County. Thank You to Dr. Mark Hess and all of our wonderful volunteers for making it such a great day as well as our generous donor Mutts & Co. For allowing us to send each person home with quality food to keep their animals healthy as well.

* we are always in need of veterinarians to volunteer at each clinic so if anyone knows a veterinarian that would like to donate 3-4 hours a month, even if it's only for one month, we would be able to help so many more animals.

Save Ohio Pets was chosen to be the the beneficiary from the Spooktacular Stores on Lane event from Whole Foods Upper Arlington, Mutts & Co Upper Arlington, and Banfield Animal Hospital Upper Arlington which was a little rainy but had an amazing turnout for the costume contest especially. We could not be any more grateful for their generosity.

Also, tonight, we had a fundraiser where Land Grant donated 20% of their sales to Save.

With these two events, we can afford to help that many more pets in need. Remember, the ONLY way we can help is by donations. We are a 501c3 organization with nothing but volunteers that love what we can do to help our community.

We could not be any more grateful for our incredibly generous donation from The Tortorella Foundation - John Tortorella & Christine Tortorella for sponsoring yet another successful spay and neuter clinic where the ever so amazing Rascal Unit was able to sterilize 47 more animals in Franklin county.
